My first time in Mexico City and it was years too late. If you’ve not been able to visit the beautiful capital of Mexico, I’d suggest you add it to the top of your list. Scroll down to see where we slept, what we did and what we ate during our time there.
SLEEP
We stayed at the Círculo Mexicano, which is located in the heart of Mexico City’s downtown. It’s minimal, chic, and was overall just a peaceful and beautiful stay. I will say, though, that it is a bit far from many of the spots in the city we found ourselves going to over and over again and would suggest staying somewhere in or near Roma Norte for more time exploring and less time waiting for Ubers.
EAT
Contramar: The most recommended restaurant from friends by far, and for good reason. Try to make a reservation in advance or head to the restaurant at open to put your name down. The tostadas are a MUST.
Rosetta: This place must have been in my Pinterest boards for years. It’s one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve dined at - and I love that it’s female-owned and run. The menu is seasonal, but the lobster pasta was so, so good so make sure to try that if it’s on the menu.
Panadería Rosetta: An extension of Rosetta in the form of a rustic chic bakery. Visit one of their two locations and a grab one of their pastries to-go so you can explore the city.
Lardo: So good (and because we failed to make an reservations prior to our trip), we ate here twice - once for dinner, once for breakfast.
La Vitrine: For a quick matcha or turmeric latte to-go and a selection of gorgeous pastries.
Brujas: A cute cocktail bar with good drinks, nice atmosphere, and warm and friendly waiters.
DO
Museo Jumex: A contemporary art museum housed in a stunning building made of white concrete and steel frames that is just as beautiful to look at as the art inside. Sit out on the patio after wandering around.
Casa Orgánica: An ecological and architectural destination that architect Javier Senosiain built for his family and actually lived in for 25 years.
Casa Gilardi: Admittedly, we couldn’t get tickets to visit Casa Barragan, so we went here. Small, intimate, and has pops of unexpected color throughout the home.
But besides the above, we just walked around and ate. A lot. :)
